MY APOLOGIES. i designed this site in 1997 and spent much time getting the web pages to look identical on mac os and windows (Bill Gates House o' Pain) computers. since retirement i became less vigilant. alas, innovation took hold and the site display on windows machines has become quite ugly, which i only recognized by viewing the site recently on hotel business computers. committed to minimal browser technology, i have revamped the formatting of all pages to minimize font options, relativize font sizes, left justify text, and generally try to make the site less gruesome on windows monitors.
october
posted a thorough review of Daniel Smith PrimaTek watercolors.
july
started a "painting a day" blog at macevoy.blogspot.com. new works appear there every few days. all works for sale are presented in recent works.
i completely revised the pages on linear perspective, palette paintings and color vision.
march
had a watercolor show of figure nudes and portraits at the graton gallery in graton, california.
2006
april
over the past year i have invested more time painting and traveling, while working on incremental upgrades to the site ... pages dated 08.01.2005 form a consistent "final draft" and comprise my latest thoughts ... sections still missing will be completed as time and inspiration allow, and i will post recent works as they accumulate ...
keep on painting!

2003
september-december
I am taking a break from working on this web site to pursue other challenges, including building a new studio. I'm leaving the content available as is, in hopes that you will find something useful. I won't be adding new content or fixing errors that remain.
Due to a hideous increase in spam email, I've removed all public email links from the site. These will reappear, with spam busting encoding, when I return to work on the site.
I'm very grateful to the many people who wrote to contribute to the work. I will be back.
keep on painting,
Bruce

1999
I blocked out the remainder of the site, including the sections on watercolor papers, brushes and watercolor palettes. I began sections on watercolor artists, watercolor technique and online retailers. Wrote the intro as a basic orientation and answer to common questions from readers.
1998
I began painting watercolors in 1997. This site started as a small file I kept of notes on watercolor paints, including my first test swatches. (I put these on the front page of the watercolor site, to remind myself of how far I've come and how little I really understand.) The earliest pages were added in 1998: the guide to watercolor pigments and the section on "color theory" (which is not a "theory" at all but a hoary collection of half truths), and the section on watercolor books. Much of this is described in my watercolor journal which I hope will inspire you to start a journal, too.
